[adrift]

Her body listed left as she countered the currents which threatened to tear her apart.

Falling into the space of her head, she tipped back out into the space of her body.

The edges of her sank into the soft sand below. It engulfed her.

Inhaling the friction of the seashore and silence.

She couldn’t see, but it didn’t seem to matter anyways.

Her body expanded in time with the tide.

Beats echoed through her fingertips, marking the earth with her presence,

yet to be overridden by the sea.

She whispered her life into the endlessly grey sky.

I couldn’t see, but it didn’t seem to matter anyways.

My body expanded. In time with the tide.
